LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS: SHS SPECIFIC AND REGIONAL
Applying for scholarships is an exercise in selling yourself, persistence, thoroughness, resourcefulness, and creativity. There's money out there; if you want some, put on your thinking caps and determination and go for it! Below are just a few tips to get you started and a sample resume`. Following that is a wide variety of scholarships for which you can apply. Be sure to check back frequently because the list changes constantly as the year progresses. Be sure to apply for any and all scholarships for which you are qualified; the more you apply for, the more money you'll receive. Onward to the graduation finish line, seniors!

Strafford Scholarships
Only Strafford students are eligible. When you apply for one of these scholarships, your only competition is other SHS seniors, not students from other school districts.
The following scholarships will be available this year. The local scholarship applications will be available in February in the counselor's office. The deadline is April 1, unless otherwise listed.
MFA Foundation Scholarship: 1 - $2,000 Deadline: February 15 This scholarship has changed from years past and requires the following:
- Must be a child or grandchild (including step) of a member-level customer
- Must live with a 50 mile radius of a MFA Scholarship Sponsor
- Must complete application online (stop by the Counseling Office for more information)
Strafford Alumni Association Scholarship: 2 - $1,000 Deadline: April 1
- Submit an application and 2 letters of recommendation, transcript, and typed answers to Mrs. Grass.
- Recipient is required to attend the Alumni Banquet in May of 2022.
Strafford CTA Education Scholarship: 1- $250 Deadline: April 1
- Must be intending to pursue a degree in the field of education at any level (elem., middle, or high school).
- Submit 3 recommendation letters and an application.
Strafford F.B.L.A. Scholarship: Amount - To be Determined Deadline: April 1
- Applicant must be a current and active member of F.B.L.A.
- Applicant must have served a minimum of 2 years in F.B.L.A.
- Submit 2 recommendation letters and an application.
- Typed 500 word essay is required.
SHS Music Boosters Scholarship: 2 - $500 Deadline: April 1
- Applicant must be a current Band or Choir senior (both semesters) and must have been in either program at least 2 years.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Submit application and 2 recommendation letters.
Steven Lea Memorial (Athletic Booster Club) Scholarship: 4 - $500 Deadline: April 1
- Must maintain a good attendance record.
- Must be involved in any SHS sports program.
- Do NOT have to play sports in college, but must be attending a college/university in the Fall 2022.
- Submit an application and 1 recommendation letter.
- Submit a typed one-page essay.
O’Bannon Bank Athletic Scholarship: 1 - $500 Deadline: April 1
- Any senior who has participated in any athletic program may apply.
- An application and high school transcript is required.
O’Bannon Bank Academic Scholarship: 1- $1,500 Deadline: April 1
- Any senior may apply for this scholarship.
- An official high school transcript is required.
- A brief essay is also required.
Community Foundation of the Ozarks Scholarships
These scholarships are offered through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks for area seniors.
Liv A Life of Love Scholarship 1-$300 Deadline: March 15
