PSAT - Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test
The PSAT is offered to all sophomores and juniors and will be administered at SHS. Interested students must sign up with the Testing Coordinator and pay the $17.00 fee with a check (made out to Strafford Schools) or cash. Juniors receiving free/reduced lunches are allowed a fee waiver; see Mrs. Robnett, Testing Coordinator. Deadline to sign up is September 25. Once registered, students will receive a practice booklet.
The PSAT test is "preparatory" version to the SAT college entrance exam. Sophomores may take the PSAT as a practice and then take it again their junior year. Juniors taking the PSAT may enter his or her score in the National Merit Qualifying Scholarship Program.
Note: Parents of juniors employed with any major corporations may want to check with their human resource office to see if the company is a participating member of the NMQS program. The PSAT score may be required the senior year when filling out scholarship applications offered from the corporation.
